Title: Boosting Moving Object Indexing through Velocity Partitioning
ثبت نشده
چکیده
Moving object indexing is an important technique in location based services. This paper proposes the velocity partitioning technique which exploits the important property of skewed velocity distributions. The VP technique firstly finds the dominant velocity axes (DVAs) using principal components analysis (PCA) and kmeans clustering. Then the moving objects are indexed using the DVAs and removing the outliers. The authors implemented the VP technique on TPR*-tree and the B-tree and improves the performance of these index structures.

Boosting Moving Object Indexing through Velocity Partitioning
There have been intense research interests in moving object indexing in the past decade. However, existing work did not exploit the important property of skewed velocity distributions. In many real world scenarios, objects travel predominantly along only a few directions. Examples include vehicles on road networks, flights, people walking on the streets, etc. The search space for a query is hea...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of Velocity Partitioned Moving Object Indexing in the Context of PCA and ICA
With the advent of new mobile services and access feasibility, moving object indexing has grabbed a great number of new research techniques and challenges. But the data exploitation in this area is based on the straitened or symmetric data. The real world data is multi-dimensional and the objects like GPS enabled devices, flights and vehicles on road networks would be skewed in nature. Velocity...
متن کاملSpeed Partitioning for Indexing Moving Objects
Indexing moving objects has been extensively studied in the past decades. Moving objects, such as vehicles and mobile device users, usually exhibit some patterns on their velocities, which can be utilized for velocity-based partitioning to improve performance of the indexes. Existing velocity-based partitioning techniques rely on some kinds of heuristics rather than analytically calculate the o...

متن کاملFixed-point FPGA Implementation of a Kalman Filter for Range and Velocity Estimation of Moving Targets
Tracking filters are extensively used within object tracking systems in order to provide consecutive smooth estimations of position and velocity of the object with minimum error. Namely, Kalman filter and its numerous variants are widely known as simple yet effective linear tracking filters in many diverse applications. In this paper, an effective method is proposed for designing and implementa...
